Much of the marketing advice you see online today comes from content creators with no real-world business experience. My background is different.
I spent 25 years working in strategy marketing agencies in London and Edinburgh, working with brands like NatWest, The Scottish Government, and The UK Space Agency. I've won Gold and Silver awards from The Marketing Society for campaign effectiveness. I've won Digital Women's Digital Content Creator of the Year and been Highly Commended as their Digital Agency Owner of the Year. I've been nominated three times as Global Entrepreneur Of The Year at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards (the ones Steven Bartlett calls “The Grammy's of Entrepreneurship").
But before I started advising other businesses - I built my own. I grew a children's dance company from one teacher to a team of 40 serving 3,000 customers across Scotland every week. Then I launched my marketing agency, which I still run today.
I deliver training for Google Digital Garage, Enterprise Nation, and the Federation of Small Businesses. I'm a Global Ambassador for Adobe Express and a Mentor for NatWest.
I didn't decide to call myself a marketing strategist yesterday because it sounded cool 😆. I've had the word 'strategy' in my job title for over 20 years.
