AIM to be different

Most events are designed around the hosts. Adventures in Marketing (AIM) is designed around YOU.

We don't believe in wasting your time and draining your energy, and most traditional business events manage both. Generic agendas, sales pitches disguised as talks, networking full of limp handshakes, and catering that's a plate of dry sandwiches. So we took traditional conferences and networking meetups and turned the best bits into a wild ride.

The people

Speakers who stay

Our speakers roll up their sleeves and join in. They sit at the tables, join the workshops and network alongside everyone else (nobody makes them, they genuinely want to be there).

The people at your table

Talented, funny, friendly business owners who are as happy to share what they know as they are to learn. We all choose connection over competition.

The format

Mastermind tables

Ever wished you could ask an industry expert about your exact situation? At AIM you can, and every year it's the most popular part of the day.

Panels

Business owners from all sorts of industries and walks of life, sharing what's worked for them in business and in life.

Workshops

New skills, taught on the day, with the resources to keep using them.

The rules

No pitching

Our no-pitch policy means there won't be a cheesy sales tactic in sight, on stage or at the tables.

Everything's included

Refreshments, sweet treats, tasty drinks and a delicious lunch, all in the price of your ticket. Don't say we're not good to you.

Cringe-free networking

We make sure great people get to meet great people. If you'd like an introduction, just ask Abi or Niki.

Is AIM for you?

This one's for the bright, bold and determined business owners out there. We're passionately anti-corporate, so you might be wondering if AIM is the right event for you.

You're gonna LOVE AIM if you:

  • know you're good at what you do, and you're ready for the world to know it too
  • want to enjoy marketing your business as much as you enjoy the rest of it
  • aren't always the most confident networker, but want to meet people and get better at talking about your work
  • want practical ideas you can use, from people who've been where you are now
  • are done doing it all on your own, and want people around you who'll cheer you on and challenge you
  • have had enough of events full of people who want to sell to you

It's probably not for you if you:

  • love bro marketing or traditional corporate conferences
  • want get-rich-quick hacks (we're all about steady growth that lasts)
  • go to events to pitch to everyone you meet (we're a no-pitch event, and all the better for it)
  • want basic tips you could find online

Still with us? Brilliant. You're exactly the kind of person we want there.

The 2027 theme

Don't just be someone. Be THE ONE.

Ever wondered why your name doesn't come up when people ask for recommendations? And the ones who always do aren't all that great?

That's what we're tackling at the next Adventures in Marketing. We're shaping the whole day to help you get named because you ARE the best at what you do. Become the one name people don't forget, with talks, workshops and masterminds all designed to take you in the same direction. You'll leave with one clear plan, instead of a notebook full of random scribbles.

What you'll leave with

  • One clear plan for becoming the name people recommend in your field
  • Answers to your trickiest business question, from an expert at your mastermind table
  • New skills from the workshops (and the resources to keep using them)
  • New collaborators, clients and friends to call on long after the day

Fancy partnering with AIM?

AIM is full of founders and decision-makers who are always on the lookout for tools and services to help them grow. Partner with us and your brand gets in front of them at the VIP dinner, at the tables, on stage and in every goody bag.

  • Hello

    Alex Orr

    AIM attendee

I had such a great time, it was so fun and really eye-opening... all the speakers, panellists, masterminders were so knowledgeable. I had no idea a business event could be this much fun

Two friends, one excellent idea

Five years later…

In case you don't know us… we're Abi and Niki. After years of travelling to events across the UK and Europe, we went looking for a business event in Scotland we actually wanted to go to. It didn't exist (how annoying), so we built it.

Five years on, Adventures in Marketing is STILL the event we'd buy a ticket for. It's the only event we've found where the people in the audience are just as important as the people on the stage, and where the speakers head straight off the stage to join everyone else. That's a unique vibe for a business event, and exactly why AIM has sold out four years running.

Niki Hutchison and Abi Sea, the hosts of Adventures in Marketing
Niki Hutchison

Niki Hutchison

She's won four Marketing Society Gold and Silver awards and Digital Women's Digital Creator of the Year, built two six-figure businesses from scratch, and hosts The Inevitable Success Podcast. Abi Sea

Abi Sea

Copywriter and messaging expert, with 30 years in communications. She's the brains behind the BLITZ messaging framework: marketing without manipulation, fake urgency or poking at people's pain, and none of the fake twattery of the online space. She takes her work very seriously, but herself less so. She gave her AIM talk, "2016 wants its messaging back", with her bra on show the entire time. Or… maybe that was the secret?!

More about Abi

Together, we bring you Adventures in Marketing. It's our job to make sure you have the best day of your business year, and after five wild years, we're pretty damn good at that job.

Where connections turn into collaborators

Some of the best things to come out of AIM happen after the day itself.

the best thing about Adventures in Marketing is that they get it. It's people who are in business for themselves just like the audience.

New venue for 2027

The trickiest part of AIM has always been finding the right venue. Could we book a big conference centre and be done with it? Of course we could. Will we ever do that? Of course we won't (where would the fun be in that?).

So join us from 8.30am on 4 February at Kimpton Charlotte Square. Stunning Georgian townhouses on one of Edinburgh's most beautiful squares, a hop, skip and a jump from Princes Street (and a short walk from Waverley and Haymarket stations). The Kimpton is grand enough to feel like a special occasion, and cosy enough to feel like home.

Questions people ask before they book

Who is Adventures in Marketing for?

Adventures in Marketing is for founders, coaches and service providers who are brilliant at what they do and ready for more of the right people to know about it. It isn't the right event for anyone looking for get-rich-quick hacks or an audience to pitch to.

When and where is Adventures in Marketing 2027?

Adventures in Marketing 2027 is on Thursday 4 February 2027 at Kimpton Charlotte Square, 38 Charlotte Square, Edinburgh EH2 4HQ. Doors open at 8.30am, the day starts at 9am and it finishes at 5pm.

How much are tickets?

Single tickets are £189.00 (£157.50 + VAT), or 2 payments of £94.50. VIP tickets are £385.99 (£321.66 + VAT), or 2 payments of £193.00.

What does the VIP ticket include?

The VIP ticket includes everything in the Single ticket, plus the VIP Speaker & Sponsor Dinner on Wednesday 3 February 2027, the night before Adventures in Marketing.

I'm not a natural networker. Will I still fit in?

Absolutely. We make sure everyone feels welcome and nobody feels out of their depth. We'll take good care of you, and if you need a breather, there are quiet spaces to do that. You sit at round tables, so it's easy to get to know the people around you, and the mastermind tables help with that too. If you'd like to be introduced to someone, come and find Abi and Niki and they'll make sure you have someone to talk to.

Coming on your own?

Lots of people do, and honestly, you won't be on your own for long. Grab a seat at one of the round tables and you'll have someone to chat to straight away.

Can I spread the cost?

Yes. Single tickets can be paid in 2 payments of £94.50, and VIP tickets in 2 payments of £193.00. You choose how you'd like to pay on the booking page.

Can I claim the VAT back?

Yes, if your business is VAT-registered. The booking page gives you a VAT receipt for your ticket.

What should I bring?

Bring anything you need to take notes and to share your contact details with the people you meet.

Are food and drink provided?

Yes, we provide refreshments at every break, a snack on arrival and a delicious lunch, all included in the ticket price.

Will there be breaks?

Yes, we schedule lots of breaks throughout the day so you can freshen up and rest.

Will the sessions be recorded?

No, Adventures in Marketing is a live event, so you'll need to be there in person.

Is the venue accessible?

Yes, every area is fully accessible. If you need support in advance, or need to check anything specific, please email us at support@nikihutchison.com and we'll talk it through.

What if I can't make it after buying a ticket?

All ticket sales for Adventures in Marketing 2027 are final: the 2027 ticket terms say there are no ticket returns, exchanges or cancellations. You can read the full terms at nikihutchison.com/aim-terms, and if you have a question about your booking, email support@nikihutchison.com.

Is there an after party?

In our experience, the last thing you want to do after a busy brain day is party! We prefer the after-chill option. Join us in the bar after the event to unwind, catch up with the speakers and attendees you haven't met yet, and enjoy the afterglow of a wonderful day.

Are there any fringe events?

Yes. The AIM Community Mixer is on Friday 5 February 2027, from 10am to 12pm. It's an informal drop-in before you head home, open to all ticket holders, and we'll send you the venue before the event.
